“I’m extremely proud of what I do and I’m not prepared to build anything that I think won’t be safe. It can be hard sometimes though because the cost and work could mean you lose the job to somebody else that doesn’t care about quality. I once needed to accept a fridge freezer as payment for a job so the homeowner could cover the cost of employing me.”Nazaire
Nazaire François Dit Vileresse, 48, first worked alongside Build Change trainers during the construction of the Tisous Community Center for Earthquake Resistant Construction in Carrefour.
Nazaire subcontracts his services to other Build Change trained builders so that he can concentrate on what he loves most: carpentry.
Like his father and grandfather, Nazaire takes extreme pride in his work as a carpenter. Thanks to that passion and his previous experience with Build Change, Nazaire has been selected to work in Delmas 32, applying his excellent skills in roof construction to help in the seismic retrofitting of Carmelia Delisma’s home, a J/P HRO-funded project.
